No, the Brewers won’t be in the playoffs for at least another season or two, but I do want you to consider joining me at 6pm in the Johnson Controls Stadium Club at Miller Park on Thursday, October 27th. The Interfaith Conference of Greater Milwaukee (on whose executive committee I serve) is offering a very special fund-raising event. On that night they will be honoring former commissioner of baseball, Bud Selig, with their Values in Action award. More than anyone else Bud Selig was most responsible for bringing major league baseball back to Milwaukee which is reason enough to honor him. But that’s not all we’ll be doing that night!
Also being honored that evening is Sister Toni Ann Palmero. Sister Toni is a School Sister of St. Francis but in a previous life she played shortstop for several years in the All-American Girl’s Professional Baseball League a la A League of Their Own. I’ve known Sister Toni for many years and she is delightful! Sister Toni will also be our First Sunday Forum speaker here at church on November 6th.
The Interfaith Conference of Greater Milwaukee is the organization that has done so much work hosting the Amazing Faith Dinner Dialogues, the annual Milwaukee Crop Walk, as well as many other great events in our community. The cost of this event is $60 and will include a tremendous dessert reception, the program, and then more desserts!
Also, Bud Selig has graciously offered the use of his private suite at Miller Park for a 2017 home game! This opportunity will be just one of served raffle items available that evening. Other items include a personalized baseball bat signed by Bud and another bat featuring the logo of the All-American Girl’s Professional Baseball League signed by Sister Toni.
